Save the Course on "Governance in Areas of Limited Statehood"!

Excellent course with an excellent professor.

One of the very few courses at Hertie that critically looks at governance & development policy outside the global-north Euro-centric paradigms & applied critical thinking & analysis on real world cases. If Hertie wants to remain/be internationally relevant it shouldn't cut this course.

Great course taught by an even greater professor. Hertie students shouldn’t miss out on one of the integral classes provided by the school. Lots of rich insights and debates to be had!

The international focus of Hertie School beyond the West (whatever that is) is important and relevant, in politics, in understanding policies, in comparison. Keep it!

One of the best course I took at Hertie, it would be a shame that some may miss out on this!

Dr. Gregor Walter-Drop is an excellent professor and this course is essential for practitioners. Since graduating from Hertie I've worked in Sub-Saharan Africa for the past 6 years and this course helped train my critical thinking skills and to understand dynamics that aren't in Eurocentric theoretical boxes. Great course with unique curriculum and a great professor. Unless replaced with other courses, please consider keeping it around!

As an alumna from Lebanon, I do support this claim and feel the school should be providing broader governance perspectives. Not only for the sake of students coming from limited statehood countries but also for the benefit of future EU leaders who might play a big part in shaping their development agendas, and should be doing so tools in hand.

Hertie administration has heard so many times how students enjoy this course and learn from the content, please take all those voices into consideration. Apart from that Professor Walter-Drop is a great professor, with a unique teaching style that encourages critical thinking and focuses on taking different views into account. Please do not take this option away from future students.

USA. It was the only relevant and none Euro-centric course during my Hertie education that taught me how to think creatively to solve some of the worlds most challenging problems. Future students will lose without this necessary perspective.

Oh no !! The course is one of my top 2 at Hertie. This is sad! The course gave tools to think out of the box! The content is relevant to my work rolling out digital projects around Europe!

This is the course that really embodies the practical approach intended by the Hertie School. The loss would be tremendous.

Hertie would be doing every student in the school a great disservice by limiting the amount of people who can access this course. It cannot be compared with or substituted by any other class in the program.

This course has been one of the most valuable throughout my time at Hertie. It provides students with a unique opportunity to look at the world from an innovative policy framework that disregards the typical Western peacebuilding ideals and lets students think about how to really make a difference on the ground in places that don't live up to the Western state norm. Discarding this course from the curriculum would mean losing a highly practical, highly problem-solving oriented and highly participatory space - in short, everything that the Hertie School originially set out to provide to its students.

This would be a massive loss to many future students at the Hertie School. Prof. Walter-Dropp’s class was one of the only two classes that I genuinely enjoyed despite the class starting at 8am.
