First students are randomly assigned to subpar housing, and then expected to conform to completely worse quality/styles of living? Fuck reslife.
This rule makes about as much sense as when students are allowed to have Christmas lights up only during the designated holiday period. Are lights suddenly safe because Jesus approves of holiday spirit?
