I loved the Friends' Bookstore at Fort Mason, and went there multiple times every month even though I live in a neighborhood more than 3 miles away. Please reconsider the decision to close the Friends' Bookstore at Fort Mason; the discounts at the bookstores were a huge incentive for renewing our Friends membership every year.

long live local, literary, library-loving Friends' Bookstore at Fort Mason! we need more not less of these community-enriching spaces. time for a massive shift in priorities and flow of resources... let's do it.

I am sick and tired of seeing San Francisco's educational and cultural institutions succumb to The Money Power. Higher rent for the space is the only reason that I can think of that is behind trying to evict this invaluable - and profitable - book store! We must never allow this. The City budget must reconfigure: less for the police, more for the community!

This bookstore was more than a bookstore - it was a community nexus! The potential for so much creative/literary activities! It will really be such a loss for us to lose this space!

The Fort Mason site was magical. It made a visit to the store a very special trip Please ask them to try to find a space. Also the library is being very unclear about the fact they seem to be totally dismantling their warehouse, book sale and collection system. This is something the Friends built up for many years was a consistent money maker. I do not understand the reason for eliminating such a wonderful service to the library patrons and to the community.

I hardly recognize the City any longer, yet forces seem to be at work to make it totally free of culture and affordable pleasures. The free parking, the City College arts program, the Friends of the Library Bookstore -- Where will it all end?? The store must stay!!
