Save the Fox Den at Goshen Farm
For the past 18 years, the fox den at Goshen Farm has been a important piece of the local environment, providing shelter and habitat for several female foxes and their kits contributing to the ecological balance in our community.
However, this haven is now facing imminent destruction due to the fire station's remediation project. Plans include clear cutting large swaths of land and the application of chemical herbicides in and around the fox den. Such drastic measures threaten not only the foxes but also the delicate web of life that has thrived around them. The use of herbicides particularly poses grave environmental risks.
Alternatives that are both effective and environmentally friendly do exist. Manual removal of plants, though requiring more labor, has been shown to control unwanted vegetation without compromising the health of surrounding wildlife and their habitats.
By adopting such methods, around the fox den once the kits have left we can preserve this important habitat and the creatures that depend on it at Goshen Farm.
It is crucial that we uphold our responsibility to safeguard our cherished natural environments. Please add your voice to call for an environmentally sustainable approach that respects and protects the fox den and its inhabitants. Sign this petition and urge the authorities to reconsider their approach to the remediation project at Goshen Farm. Let us work together to ensure that Goshen Farm remains a sanctuary for wildlife for generations to come.
