The Eritrean Islamic Society of Australia (ERIS) have an agreement with the Department of Housing that they will manage the facility located at 155/33 Alfred St, North Melbourne.
The Department of Housing has recently informed ERIS that they can no longer manage the facility as allegedly they
weren’t sharing the use of the facility with other members of the community.
We, the undersigned, are concerned community members who urge the Department of Housing to reconsider their
decision and allow ERIS to continue to manage the facility as our local community organisation.
We believe that they are considerate in allowing others to also use the facility and that their activities have a positive
impact on our community.

The Department of Housing is hiding behind flimsy excuses to push us out of our own community space. I am currently dragging their officials into a public accounting of these baseless claims because we refuse to let them shut this centre down without a fight.

I have only heard positive feedback about ERIS and any allegations need to be supported by proof. Otherwise it is just an attempt guided by envy and ill feelings, something that should not be entertained.
Eris management for 155/33 alfred St north Melbourne was extremely helpful and they share with all the community members They manage this for 17 years or more and as regular user never had any problems with their management
I think this Center is servicing our community well and every one involved get fair share of the Center it will be great mistake to change the current arrangement Thanks
This centee and the group in charge of it has always been a great help to the North Melbourne community.
Thumbs down to the decision. Thank you to all ERIS management who create a multi- cultural office space to share the lovely smailes with everyone. Not only do accept anyone who wants to use the Centre but also are a great example of a true community spirit that warms the heart.

I support ERIS in continuing to manage the facility but please clarify the issue as it is unclear for why the DH is taking this action. Who is ERIS alggedly not sharing the facility with?
