The HERS rating index is a valuable third-party system that is a great tool for balancing high performance buildings and their affordability. Evaluating a building's performance based on a prescriptive checklist of items is archaic. Let's use the technology at our disposal to build better and more affordable homes.
The HERS rating index is valuable information for the home buyer. It give an independent, third-party's evaluation of the house. The state of Illinois should help in providing this information and not just that the house meets the minimum requirements of the code.

There is no reason we need to make measuring a homes performance more limited with less options. HERS is a great program and needs to be kept for the sake of all Illinois residents and consumers.

Please vote to keep the ERI performance path to allow compliance with the IECC. The HERS system has become a powerful tool for both energy modeling and establishing the value of efficient homes. It needs to be supported.
