They actually said yes and the Epicentre is officially staying in our hands for concerts. I am honestly stunned because I spent so many nights pacing around my room wondering if we were shouting into the void. This means we have a place to keep building the scene but we …

Hey guys, recently the Epicentre, the local teen center located in Mira Mesa, closed their doors as a venue for concert style events such as the showcases Lionturtle has hosted this past year. To make matters worse Harmonium, the non-profit organization who had the lease for over 15 years, decided to return the teen center back to the city this past month. Bruce Brown, the Vice Chair of the Mira Mesa Recreation Council, was put in charge of a committee with the purpose of figuring out what to do with the now-vacant teen center.

When we here at Lionturtle Records heard this news we jumped at the chance to call the Epicentre home as our very own venue. Which sounds amazing, but we aren't the only people interested in the space. That's where you come in. At first we wanted to keep this operation secret from the general public in case it didn't work out in our favor. Upon further thought, we decided if this venture would be for the community Bruce Brown and his committee would love to hear from the community.

So please help us Save the Epicentre as the one of the only safe, cost friendly, all ages music venues in San Diego. Share our petition with your friends and family! Also if you're a local musician, it would be a great help if you could fill out our survey that will also be presented to Bruce Brown and his committee! Also be sure to like our Facebook page to keep updated with news about the Epicentre. Thank you so much for your support

I never thought the messages would start pouring in like this when I hit publish but seeing the support for the Epicentre is honestly overwhelming my brain right now. It is wild to realize how many people in this city really care about keeping our local music scene alive because I was half worried nobody would even notice the doors closing in the first place.

Countless shows and the location where my fiance and I met. This place is irreplaceable in our lives and we would love for it to live on for our kids to see some day.

My band got our start at the Epicenter. We have enjoyed over two years of gigs, two albums and met some of the greatest people because the Epicenter existed. Given the right opportunity it could be great once again.

This place is the only venue of it's kind in the area. It was the first venue most local bands played and it contributed so much to the local music community, it deserves to get a second life

My favorite venue to go to and sell merch at. Not to mention the whole crew rocks! Nobody does sound like John Hobde. I'd love to see the return of the epicentre!

As a former Epicentre employee, I would love to see the place reopened and run by people who know and care about music. San Diego does not have nearly enough all-ages venues for up and coming artists to get some fans and experience.

This venue has been a great opportunity for local kids of all ages to play in front of people, as well as a safe space to enjoy great music. It's a shame it had to close down.
