Save the Edmonds Yost Penguins community swim team

Please save our swim team!! This is so important for our kids and families this summer.

My children all enjoyed their summers as members of the Penguins. It was a great experience for them and losing this team is a huge loss to the children of Edmonds.

We love the YOST pool swim team and it is a highlight of our summer. The swim team keeps our kids MOVING all summer. We were so sad to hear this program was not happening this summer especially with all the private pool summer programs open this year as well as year round club teams. I understand why the team was canceled last year and supportive of that choice. I'm also happy Cascade can practice as I know they are missing their shoreline location, however, for a year round club to happen at Yost when the Penguins are not is very upsetting. Please reconsider this choice, even for a short program with no meets - it will benefit the health and happiness of our beloved Yost pool community.

Please consider bringing swim team back to Yost this summer. My son is looking to complete in high school next year and needs to training and conditioning that this program brings. Especially in these unprecedented times.

All my life I have been a swimmer. I participated on both competitive and summer league teams. Not only that, I was a swim coach for many years. I know firsthand the importance of community swim programs. My best memories and experiences were both as a participant and a coach of a summer league swim team. Swimming is a life skill. You can’t allow a competitive team to come in and take that away. I don’t know if the City of Edmonds or the Dale Turner YMCA is behind this decision, but what I do know is that the YMCA is supposed to be about community. Cutting the YOST Penguins swim team is taking away a part of our community. You should be ashamed.

Massive safety overreaction in closing this pool off to the team. Let them use the pool!!

Yost Penguins might be one of the last affordable, no-cut teams in our area. Please don't take that away!

This has provided my son a place to swim that gave him a great experience and it included him even if he was not the fastest.

Please bring back this summer. Public access to pools, competitive swimming (and diving boards!) are essential mental health services as much as anything else.

This is a community pool and it needs to have a community team. Exclusive team only is counter to the entire point of providing community services and I’m disappointed in the initial decision to only support Cascade.

Swimming is a LIFE SKILL. The Penguins have been around forever! Please don’t take this away from our kids. A child loses a lot of confidence and survival skills by losing 2+ years of swimming. Bring back our community swim team!

Continuing a community swim team option in Edmonds is vital. Swimmers at all levels need an affordable opportunity to participate in a team sport.

Come on, Y! Show the citizens of Edmonds that you stand behind your mission. This swim team provides so much value to so many.
