My children LOVED this program. Pre-k teachers have an extremely challenging job and are systemically underpaid in the USA. Aligning a pre-k program to a university is an amazing way to provide the benefits teachers need. The ECC program is exemplary and simply needs a bigger advertising budget. Zero of my pals in the neighborhood have heard of this gem. Please invest in it.

My granddaughter is currently a student in the Montessori program. She is thriving socially, emotionally, and intellectually in this environment, Mike Hara, St. Kate's Senior Director of Purchasing, Contracts, and U (Auxiliary) Services and signatory of the letter to parents should meet with families to show them the numbers that underlie this decision. I assume it comes from his office as a recommendation to the Board of St. Kate's during the budget process for the next fiscal year. The Chair of the Board of St. Kate's should also address the issue with parents.

I'm the parent of a current ECC student in the Montessori Class. The center has served the community for generations and would be a huge loss. I would be very interested to see the numbers behind the statement, "the operations and finances of this center have grown increasingly difficult to manage...The evaluation of the viability of the ECC was undertaken over a number of years, and was not a light or quick decision.". This was a safe affordable place for me as a student to send my child. We moved across the world and now my son skipped a grade and is top of his class in a multilingual environment and I credit his advancement to the years he spent at ECC.

The ECC was a vital part of my child's early education and plays an important role in the larger St. Kate's community. Closing it down is but one more poor decision in a long list of poor administrative decisions made in recent years.

St. Kate's decision to close a 90 year old institution dedicated to early childhood learning on short notice and with no discussion with staff, families or the community is absolutely devastating.
Like all of her classmates, our daughter is a child of the pandemic, and the growth we've seen in her over her months in this program has been extraordinary.
Please do not abandon these children and amazing teachers and staff!
At the very least, delay the closure to actually give families a chance to find alternate arrangements. Three months is nothing. Wait lists for quality programs can be years long.
The fact that St. Kate's leadership has been considering this for years - all while recruiting new staff and students - but gives this short of notice with no discussion is unethical.
Your mission is to educate women to lead and influence. Don't turn your back on the youngest generation. They need you the most.

The aftermath of the pandemic has hurt many childcare programs. I believe the community of parents and staff can get the word out to attain more enrollment and then in turn right the budget!
