I loved the paintings and art at the dump. Now it's just.. a dump. Quit micro-managing, select-people.

This is exactly what art and flowers are for--making our world, especially the less beautiful parts, more lovely. It seems the art and flowers added character, a bit of humor, and some beauty. Plus they seem to have added a bit of (metaphorical) glue--a connection between people of the community over having something a bit odd, a bit wonderful, and certainly entirely special that was unique to the town and freely shared. There is something sad and grinchy about the impulse to "clean up" something that didn't need cleaning up, to take away something that cost basically nothing and clearly brought much joy to the community. Please bring the art and flowers back.

I've been upset since the removal of the (toilet planters).What exactly is the problem,that the selectmen have to get involved with paintings and flowers?

Put the art work back up. It is far better to look at this than the blank walls. We are looking at a cost of nearly $0 to improve the looks of the facility.

Keep the art. Bring back the flowers. There seems no good reason for this and I find the whole thing to be ridiculous.

I am saddened by this. I believe the art added something special and unique to our recycling center. I am also saddened for our town employees. Each and every year, the person in charge of their department can change. Each and every year, they can be made to change things in their departments. Some are real issues that need attention. Some are personal agendas but they must still adhere to the requests of their "supervisors". Is this an issue that needed attention from our Selectmen? We hire our town employees for their ability to properly run their departments. Since when is the average layman more knowledgeable than the seasoned personnel in their respective departments? It is a shame that we treat our employees like that. Work with departments on the important things and leave the personal subjective stuff alone!

So, lets understand the chronology here. First off, a selectwoman is caught using town money to insert bogus information into the town report to trick the citizenry about on the issues regarding the transfer station. Then TWO selectman are caught stealing signs in town, read the police reports. Then some of the selectperson tricked the townspeople into voting against the state approved plan to clean up the old transfer station and turn it into a beautiful park for LESS MONEY than they spent on the terrible and unusable moonscape that it is now. Then the selectman refused to tell us why they conned the town into voting for the more expensive and terrible plan [sic]. And then they told us that the old steel swap shop (in excellent condition) had to be torn down, and then they refused to tell us whey they tricked the town into that stunt after state documents revealed that the old swap shop was 100% serviceable and clean. And now we have the assault on the artwork..... and NOBODY in Candia can tell you what harm the artwork has ever done. Wake up people, can't you see how bizarre we've become?

Where do we live?
Is this Candia, NH, USA?
What brand of leaders require removal of that which beautifies and makes a place unique?
Has a rational, acceptable reason been given?
The first time I was at this recycling center, I was surprised and delighted by its uniqueness.

It is difficult for me to understand how the selectmen can determine what is in the best interest of the people of Candia with specific regard to this issue, and frankly, quite unsettling that they have the ability to change matters that are not directly a threat to public safety without the input of the community.

You have got to be kidding me! The art was a contribution from the constituents of Candia.The taking down of the art is like ripping the soul and character out of our community. Whose decision was this???
