That's the kind of place that a city like Dublin should keep and encourage. Love.

Please save this wonderful market. It is full of life and adds so much to Newmarket and the surrounding areas.

Newmarket is one of the few places in Dublin where community spirit still exists, massive massive loss if the studio's + market space is lost

Have attended this market for three years it is one of the best things about Dublin and really gives you a sense of community! Would hate to see this go.

We need to keep community events such as this where they are...in the local community. Central location is key

Together markets and current shops in this area provide a vibrant centre for Dublin's cultural diversity and all are essential parts of what makes Dublin unique. The services these markets provide go beyond profit and should be measured on a social, creativity and health scale. Replacing these with less-accessible commercial enterprises hurts the immediate community and Dublin as a whole. The added-value should be taken into account by DCC and protected.

It is so important that the Newmarket markets are kept and to the same size as they are now. The footfall is huge particularly at the flea, a very important asset to the whole city not just the local area. It would be a crying shame to lose this.

Terrible shame to see this go. Certainly supporting a higher percentage of community space for the markets.

Community markets are a must, great way to reduce, reuse and recycle and of course have a banter with like minded people.

In this country we have a habit of trying to redevelop and upgrade our traditional markets, when what happens in actuality is we remove the traders who give the markets their value and character and replace them with those who can afford the higher rents. Those who replace the original traders are the bigger players like the same food stalls you see at every other market in the area. These new markets become characterless and generic and lose their appeal. A perfect example is the coal quay in cork, I remember my nan and mother passing and having the banter with all the fruit traders there, I would even be given a free apppe as a child now and again, where are they now? Fond memories, but unfortunately that's all they are now. We don't do markets well in this country anymore. They are soulless and corporate rather than cottage industry and unique as they should be.

Shutting down the Dublin Flea Market doesn't make any sense. I could spend many words on why I loved the place, of all the people that I met, the great atmosphere and so on. This is not the way to redevelop a neighborhood.
