This keystone building is on the lakefront corridor. It should be an anchor of the revitalization of the northern end of West First/Lake Street/Wright's Landing. It would be a real shame if the good, capable City of Oswego governing body is unable to come up with a workable plan to save this building.

It is beyond my comprehension why the city of Oswego will let this historic building fall. My grandfather flourished in this building and there are numerous ways to fund the restoration, both conventional and unconventional. I hope that the Mayor of Oswego and the other elected officials can see beyond what their own pockets can gain and see the importance of this building. Seriously, no one can come up with a plan to incorporate this structure into a revitalization plan for that area? Stop being so short sighted.

Oswego has seen a recent renaissance through the REHABILITATION of several of its prominent historic buildings. The Stevedore Lofts, Seaway Lofts, Browne-Davis Building, Woodruff Building, etc. There is real interest and economic impact in the reinvestment in these historic buildings with character that today's architecture just does not have. If the Cahill's Building is lost, it's character and soul cannot be replaced with a new building. Let's turn this crisis into an opportunity and join together to see this building returned to its former glory.

I am not a former resident or current one. I live in Texas but I have been visiting Oswego every summer for over 25 years. I love Oswego for the history there. I am quite attached to Cahill's. I did eat there when it was still Cahill's and of course Colemans. I live in Dallas and almost everything is new here. We tear down almost everything and rebuild. It is one box after another. Your historic buildings are treasures. You live with them everyday so take them for granted. Once they are gone they are gone and you can't replace them. Oswego is a very special place and the architecture is very important. Really hope you manage to save it. Oswego is a special tourist attraction and you need to keep it that way.
