I''m not sure where I saw this, maybe on this page but . . . why not take down Cahill's and rebuild it to current building codes and use the stones as its outside surface. Make it look the same but safer. I know where I heard about this technique. I believe Berlin has done this to its buildings after being destroyed by WWII. Someone or some entity could make this happen and maybe Coleman will come back. Keeping history alive.

There is no doubt in my mind that if cool heads prevail, the community will not let such an important part of our local history be lost. The old Cornerstone Building was also in a sad condition, when we purchased, and restored it.. And now it's a beautiful riverfront icon, called "Bridie Manor."

I am still a property owner in Oswego. The Cahill building is the most picturesque structure in downtown Oswego, looking a bit like the centuries old buildings in Old Montreal near their harbor.

Without its history, I would not be interested in moving to Oswego. It is our duty to maintain these links to the past. New and old residents alike need icons of Oswego as a focus of pride in our town.
