It is because of the Bayou Boogaloo annual event that has helped improve the Bayou St. John waterfront. Your decision to increase the rent, especially for not-profits, is not very "community oriented" and these events will find other spaces to hold their functions and you could loose out completely.

it is bad enough we still do not have the city park bus nto help with people visiting the festival. but what other festival has taken on the retoration of the bayou st john corridor and has maintan collaborative ventures with other caring none profits. and as extended itself to our music culture and culinary arts in such a tremendous way.i own a home that is between 109 and 111 years old and i'm a 64 year resident of mid-city on orleans avenue who knowns fully the value of the boogaloo. lets keep what has been great for new orleans and has also given world wide exposure through the kindness and support of wwoz. in spirit, the voice archie sampier,the voice

This event has a positive impact on our Mid-City neighborhood. Stop gouging the things that work and go after the slumlandlords and property owners that destroy our way of life. More money in the city's coffers and a better quality of life for us all!

Tacking this on to the fees the organizers already pay for permits and other licenses feels like a shake down. I am disappointed in our city management for charging such an absurd fee for the use of public land. It's not like the event doesn't clean up after itself or support the bayou. I understand wanting to limit festival events in the BSJ area but charging fees is not the answer.
