I travel from NJ every year for this and then spend some time in the city. Other tourist I have spoken with also come from out of state. Wave the fee entirely!

Raising funds for charities should not be "taxed". When you put obstacles in the way of fund raising, you are doing a disservice to people in need

This is an incredible festival in a neighborhood that is often left on the fringes of NOLAs music scene. Not only does the fest let residents (like myself) walk to a festival and be proud of my neighborhood, they are improving bayou st. john. From planting trees to make art out of lighnting struck tree the city was about to tear down, the Bayou Boogaloo has been nothing but fantastic for NOLA and the Mid City. Especially on the heels of Jazz Fest, when many people cant afford to partake in our city's iconic fest, the fact that the boogaloo is free makes it uniquley inclusive. All the more imporant in a neighborhood withough much public music.

The idea of the city charging to "rent" the banks of Bayou St. John comes from a few, very few, neighbors who don't want to see any activity on the bayou. We cannot allow this to happen. We have a vibrant urban community here and the bayou is a beautiful place to spend outdoor time in our city. If those few want to keep people off the bayou and feel they have the right to do so because they are property owners, may I suggest they move to a gated community? Or to the country?

The exposure to New Orleans non-profits, free live music, and community bonding regardless of funds has made a huge impact on my life in New Orleans. To make this event exclusive to the community by enclosing the event and charging per entry instead of allowing the event to act as a fundraiser would be detrimental to the bayou community and its neighbours.
