The species is endangered to the point of extinction, with an estimate of about only 17 living to this day. There is such limited knowledge about these animals, however salamanders themselves have provena as useful aids to humanity. They consume insects that have potential to carry deadly diseases. Salmamders also keep Anthropod and Insect populations in check.
