This is Giving Tuesday and I hope everyone will be giving the Chautauqua Foundation a check and their opinion on the Amphitheater Demolition. My sister and I think wrecking the Historic Amp is a very bad idea, for one thing where will all the Little Brown Bats live?

I'm sorry I want the Amp retained and maintained with historical accuracy. I don't grasp the point of enlarging the space and destroying the historical integrity. Chautauqua is NOT a city, it's a sense of place, a sense of time. It's the preservation of something timeless, classic and unique. Perhaps it's time to unseat the Chautauqua president and the currant board.

$30 million could certainly be better spent restoring/preserving...thank re-creating. Keep the original Amp.

My view on the Ampatheater debate: It is unfortunate that this got to its current state. This should have been more transparent earlier. At this point, however, I believe that the issues have been adequately clarified, and that the plans should move forward as the architects and engineers have advised. Paul E. Cawein

HAS LOOKED LIKE A BOON DOGGLE TO ME SINE 2013. I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED TO SEE"NAMING RIGHTS" FOR BOTH THE AMP AND THE ATHENEAM FOR SALE TOO. HOW ABOUT "THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE AMP' OR WHAT ABOUT THE MARIOTT ATHENEAUM AT CHAUTAUQUA ON BILLBOARDS ALL AROUND I90?

Think about the events that have occurred in this facility that have shaped this nation. Think of this nation's industrialists and movers and shakers who have sat in those benches. Think of loosing all this just so we can be more comfortable when enjoying second tier entertainment. This facility should be reviered, not replaced.

For years too many people have thrown away historic buildings in this area. I studied the work of Louis Sullivan and Frank L. Wright only to find that the city of Buffalo had torn most of them down or let them deteriorate. This should not be allowed to happen to Chautauqua. The Amphitheater should not be destroyed in the name of "progress".
