During January 2013, there were 25 days with smog. At that time, everyone said that the smog was caused by the random weather. Now, when we recall the sky and look back to see the videos of the sky, at the time smog enveloped 25 provinces of China. Currently most of cities in China are still enshrouded in the smog.

【Where are they come from】

One important indicator of the smog in China is PM2.5. 60% of China’s PM 2.5 come from burning coal or oil, that is the burning fossil fuels. They are from the industrial waste gas emission, the car exhaust, the burning of the lignite, etc.

【How they hurt us】

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), it can be dangerous to breathe in too much smog.

1. Coughing and throat/chest irritation

2. Worsening asthma symptoms

3. Difficulty breathing and lung damage

【What can we do】

When I was young, the sky was crystal clear, the rivers were so clean you could see the bottom or catch fish. Cleaning up our air isn’t an impossible task. It’s entirely achievable. Even the world’s most powerful government can’t solve pollution on its own. It must rely on ordinary citizens like you and me.
