From our 16th floor apartment at Tarkington Tower we watch these boys practice evenings and weekends and understand that this is what this park should be for. When the first proposals were made the Parks Department was told about it but ignored all suggestions other than what they wanted to have and cared less about suggestions that came from the local community. The 10 million dollar investment for a "destination" park is a travesty of bureaucratic incompetence. It is not too late to change. I have taken pictures of this activity on several occasions and would like to share them with someone who should be shown what this loss will mean to so many kids. A. How do the community leaders complain that the kids are getting in trouble because there is nothing for the kids to do, but they take the park away from them. Someone needs to do something about this!

Why does the park department have all this money to "remodel" Tarkington Park but cannot keep the city's other parks in good repair? What contributor to the Republican party got this contract?

It's sad that it's already not enough things to do to keep the children safe & out of trouble. These children are doing the things that they love to do & that's play football. To take this away is very sad & wrong.

Parks are supposed to be kid friendly and people friendly.
Please reconsider and build a football field there.
This would certainly would be 1 way of making sure our youth especially -males would have something to do. This would be something, or at least 1 thing that will hold their attention.

Our youth have nothing to do as it is, now y'all want to cater to dogs so ou the children have no where to enjoy their neighborhood. A community center should be there !
