This appears to be yet another attempt by decision makers based in Dublin to undermine the post office network, which is the very fabric of rural Ireland, A post office is in many ways the heartbeat of a rural community and relied upon for far more than the delivery of mail by the entire community. For many, the post office is a place where they can avail of information and assistance about a myriad of postal and financial issues. If you take away postmen and the post office services you are essentially stripping bare a community of that personal service. While it seems to be 'de rigueur' for all financial and postal services to become completely faceless in society, the post office offers face to face transactions and time-saving services to men and women of all ages and the more we push for what those sitting in offices in our capital deem as a more efficient service is actually another attack on rural Ireland. While I appreciate that currently the post office is not at immediate risk of closure, most definitely removing the post office of its postmen is just the start of a plan which will undermine a vital lifeline in our small town.

Please save Swinford Post Office, it is an integeral part of the community in Swinford and also gives employment.
