My Mum and Dad Anthony and Bridget Dempsey are in their 90's
and their postman is often the only person they see in a day. They know him well and want the postal service to stay.

Another example of An Post wasting money. Remember RoRo? Spent millions on that before very quietly dropping it. Was supposed to stop two Postmen from adjoining areas going down the same road with one doing left side and the other doing right side.
Same thing with franking letters, post this evening in Swinford, waits there until 4.30 next day, up then to Athlone, sorted again, franked, off to Galway, then to Claremorris and finally on to Swinford to where there is only 1 mail drop in morning (used to be 2 back in the day) Ah yes An Post delivering to you 2 or 3 days after posting. Before this palaver post in Swinford in evening, delivered next morning. Progress I hear you ask, going backwards I'd say. Seems to be agenda here to get post offices into Supervalu, Tesco or other multiples who'd probably pay An Post for a post office in their stores to generate increased foot fall.

It would be a travesty for the people of Swinford if the post office were to close down especially for the older people living in Swinford who are unable to get to Castlebar to collect their pensions.

Please keep swinford post office open. Why why would swinford be devastated further than it already is by taking away the post office. Will it be left derelict without anything.
