This rec program was a godsend when I moved to MI as a single mother with a 5th grader. My son made life long friends and so did I. To tell the parents to sign up in MB over half hour or more away on school nights for young kids is ridiculous. SSB claims they are a family beach. Word has travelled up the east coast very fast letting family members know what a bunch of hyprocrites are running SSB.

I can think of others ways to save money than to take it away from youth! The more children can be involved in, the less trouble they can cause!

Surfside is a great place to grow up playing and coaching a game we all love. Providing a positive safe environment that has given kids of all ages an opportunity to grow in every way.

Having lived in Surfside for over 10 years and my parents living in Surfside for 28 years, I am writing on behalf of keeping the Surfside Youth Baseball Program. We have 3 children, 1 who played baseball for 6 years at Huckabee, and currently a 10 year old who played both spring and fall. Regardless of where we live this has been a wonderful outlet and program for the kids. 660+ kids played last year alone, and I can speak from experience that when we have games 9/10we then eat nearby before or after a game, along with any family or friends who come to support the teams. I urge you and all the town council to continue to support this wonderful program!

Or kids have suffered enough due to the economy and politics. Let's not take away an all American sport field..which also proxides much needed exercise to our children.

Lots of memories at Huckabee growing up. I chose to raise my family in Greenville because Surfside lacks opportunities for families. Getting rid of your ballpark won't help and kids will find something else to do like get in trouble. Surfside is so much better than this!

My boys are getting ready to start their first season of baseball. I feel like as a single mom they need this. They need to understand what it's like to be on a team, to work as a team and to learn about sportsmanship. I want my boys to grow into strong young men and I know that this is something that will help that along the way.

I played baseball as a little kid here! I played for the New York Yankees and remember to this day how it felt to win the championship! So please keep this place going! I also own a landscaping business and will be more then happy to maintain the property at cost! My company does this for the YMCA in Myrtle beach already! All Seasons Landscaping and Irrigation LLC. 843-694-9083 Thanks!

So sad to hear this!!! As a born and raised Surfside Local this truly saddens and upsets me ! I grew up playing at Huckabee park from t-ball all the way up to regular league. After that I started playing travel ball and played a few tournaments on those fields. Many of great players have walked those fields and many of happy kids that just wanted to play. Sports are such a great outlet for kids it would be a shame to take that away from them. They look forward to the games, practices, and being able to grow not only as a ball player but also to grow and learn many traits along the way. This program helps many kids and keeps them active. Please keep this program!!!

This is a wonderful activity for young boys and girls to learn discipline, fair play and working with others.
