This is a sad commentary on our town council and their lack of support for our youth. Their excuse will always be that their is a lack of $$$. My advice to them is to "prioritize." Find the money. Take care of the youth of our town and community. L. Altman, SSB resident

My son plays baseball and I coach baseball in Surfside. This is something that we both throughly enjoy. It not only allows us to have an outdoor activity to participate in but also allows us something to bond together on. We also are able to enjoy the fellowship that comes from being involved in such a a great organization. Without baseball in Surfside it will be very hard for my son to participate in recreation baseball. This is because if we were to have to travel to another nearby town it will be darn near impossible as my wife and I both work full time jobs and getting home and then trying to get dinner and head to another town for practice and games. Not to even mention that means my son would be getting home and to bed late. So please consider keeping baseball in Surfside as this is part of my sons life!

All four of my sons have participated in Surfside baseball. The opportunity to play at Huckabee was important to them and our whole family. Please consider the positive impact this field has had and will have for families in our area. It would be a shame to see Huckabee converted for a different purpose.

I support the youth sports in Surfside. Some of my best childhood memories and friendships were made there, and I hope the same will be true for my son.

I use to live in Surfside and loved living in this community because it was so family friendly. I currently live in Florida and we are facing a similar situation. The city is trying to take away our softball field for a parking garage. Please give these kids a place to play, learn, grow and build friendships.

My son has played in surfside for over 5 years. He has friends that he has made from meeting new kids playing baseball.

I can't believe that Surfside would even consider taking baseball/softball away from its area kids...SHAME on you...And if you want to ever be re-elected, think about how you treat your citizens...

We grew up in surfside and because of youth sports we still come back instead of staying in the inlet area. Please keep this going!
Let the kids play ball
