I am signing to save our steel as this will be a great loss to our area both for employment and also community spirit. If you can bail the banks out why can't you bail our steel!!

Please realise that this is not just about the jobs of those in the steel works, it is also the knock-on effect of the money they can no longer spend in the local and global economy.

We need to keep our steel industry in Teesside. If SSI closes, many of these skilled workers will be forced on to benefits, costing a lot of money to UK economy and forcing businesses to import steel from elsewhere.

Come on David Cameron, throw this company a life line. The Banks have had money from the Bank of England tax payers money. These guys need help right now. The European rules that stipulate the government can't get involved is rubbish. If they can offer free advice and get the company put its cards on the table, then a buyer could be found and jobs saved. There are loads of companies that have had government assistance.

Prove your metal and put money where your mouth is, Mr Cameron and Mr Osbourne, by saving 9000 or more jobs and build up Teesside Steel Industry adding strength to the so-called Northern Power House. Or will Teesside become the sacrificial lamb for The UK Government to blindly barge into doing business with the Chinese Government???
