If there's money to bail out banks, there's money to bail out the steelworks a massive employer in the area.

Having grown up with the devastation caused by the closure of industry (steel, coalmining and shipbuilding) in the 70s and 80s and its long term effect on the northeast economy it it time all uk governments need to incentivise businesseses and show the regions it cares more about its people

Best comment by David Awbery-Maskell. If the Banks (victims of their own greed) can be saved by the Government and the UK Tax payer, why can't the Steel Works who for generations have formed the backbone of British Manufacturing and to this day, still out perform by far in terms of quality, the dubious imports from places that Mr Osborne is currently wooing for investment and further detracting from Bitish jobs for British workers? Thanks for your sympathy George (well meant or not as the case may be) but the Steel works need more than worthless words, they need action and now !

It is vital we continue to recognise the importance of the steelworks in Teesside.
There must be some sort of intervention and fast.

This steel works must be saved! The government must intervene and save this fine industry and proud people of Teeside. The government has a responsibility to do this as they did with the banks. Why is it we as a nation waste so much talent and resources in this fantastic country? It is time the folk in Westminster sit up and take action NOW.

We must keep the ability to smelt steel in this country, to let it go would be a national disgrace and leave country weaker
