My great grandfather was employed as a blast furnaceman over a century ago when Stockton-on-Tees still had an industry to be proud of. Why should jobs which contribute to the British economy be allowed to die under your watch, Mr Cameron? Is that a legacy you'd want to be remembered for?

Our country has lost too much industry already and we cannot afford to keep on shutting down our resources. David Cameron needs to take a stand here and show the people of the UK he means business.

If this is the one reason to leave the EU is the fact that the government can't support industry in its sovereign country. May be 2000+ votes to leave the EU from this area of the U.K. may strike fear in the government and make them see sense. So come on D C grow some balls and stick two fingers up at the EU and its beauracy and let's have a LEVEL PLAYING FEILD!!!!!

If other European countries can have a steel industry why can't we ? This will such a short sighted decision if this government fails to intervene if EU regulations prevent payments to support the industry then re nationalise it like the banks .
