Whilst across the country for many years we have been mocked by being called smoggies, the steel works is a huge part of the town, people, history and local economy We local's have always been proud of the steel house. Back in 2010 we sampled a sneak peak of what could happen and horrifyingly I do believe the mothballing will bring the town to its knees. It is a scary time for Teesside!

The goverment has to act fast. We need to think of the long-term. We cannot accept this closure and we have to fight the effects of cheap Chinese steel.
We must save this steel plant it is vital. Nationalise this steel plant and sell our steel to China.

As an adopted smoggy I'm heartbroken that SSI have announced it is to mothball the Redcar plant. Bad news for the whole region when it's been on the up and up

The government claims they are unable to offer support to this industrial under EU rules. This apparently get in the way when the banks needed a bail out.
As usual, money goes to the wealthy and undeserving.

The Tories killed off the Scottish steel industry as well as all of its other heavy industry, now it is attempting to kill of its loose ends in NE England!
