As an employee in the UK steel industry and a Trade Union Offical I strongly Urge the UK Government to go above and beyond to save our steel manufactoring and help secure the future of thousands of jobs. Don't let the lights go out of our proud industry.

Teesside cannot afford to lose this industry. Thousands suffered after it was shut down before, you've bailed out banks, youve provided huge hunks of cash to emerging economies and for refugees. It's time you found a way to help keep steel alive for Teesside.

Saving the steel industry is just as important as saving the banking industry. If you can save the banks with billions you can help save steelmaking with a few million - it is people's livelihoods not just the 2000 direct workers but also the 8000 contractors and hundreds of suppliers and their thousands of employees - the steel industry pours billions into the UK economy by buying goods and services to run a steel plant. In addition the UK cannot just rely in the service sector it must have diverse industries to flourish - if you allow the steel plants to shut you are killing heavy manufacturing.
