I work in the steel industry in the northeast and although I am not directly affected by this I have family members who are. The steel industry has been part of this area for generations and it would be an absolute disgrace if the government don't do something to help.

This will make a big impact on the northeast and make it harder for young apprentices and people looking for work. For some people, relying on benefits is not a way of life and why should you be entitled to them when you have never paid into the system. This has been a way of life on Teesside for generations and steel making in the UK should not end this way.

If they can bail the banks out, they can bail manufacturing industry out. Don't forget politicians, Northerners' have excellent memories.
