If SSI closes it will be a disaster for the area, so many other smaller businesses rely on custom from the steelworkers it's not just about the thousands of jobs that will be lost directly. If they lose their income that income can not be passed on to the local economy.

I don't live in the area anymore but I know how vital the works are for the area and community, with my family and friends working there. There is a huge potential in the area in a number of sectors which will be affected if the plant is allowed to close. We can't let these opportunities go to waste!

Help save one of our main industries on Teesside, the closure of this plant would mean higher deprivation for the area, and the loss of many jobs meaning families will suffer and unemployment within the area will rise.
