My Father had the unfortunate job of turning the switch after the last shift at Consett Steel Works in 1980 when another Tory Government closed its doors.
The closure of another Great British part of our industrial industry would desolate the North East of England.
Find it in your hearts to prevent this closure.

As a senior engineer at SSI UK witnessing the tenacity and professionalism of the north eastern and Thai workforce in these troubled times fills me with pride. Whitehall has shown positive responses to UK manufacturing in the past with its support of JLR, Discussions and meetings do not pay the mortgages of employees threatened with losing their jobs, a support solution is required before the end of September to show the steel industry is a priority.
