I think a Viking Centre would be an excellent idea. Chester isn't just about Romans & the Tudor Period.

King Alfred the Great's Anglo-Saxon Chronicles became the fundamental precedents of Magna Carta, 1215, whereupon all Western liberties and the Rule of Law are based. St. Olaf's should therefore be seen as an inseparable part of our cultural inheritance, during Magna Carta's 800th Anniversary celebrations, and for evermore.

This building is of massive importance, not just to Chester but any part of the world with links to Scandanavian history. There is no way the building should be left empty and rotting - it should be looked after, restored carefully and tastefully, and used for another 400 years.

As a Viking re-enactor from North America, the UK is a kind of mecca. What a huge boon to those of us who come to Chester to have such a centre! And what a terrible waste of a golden opportunity to increase Chester's tourist profile if this is not acted on.
