Please keep the church open for the Deaf Community. They need the Church as a gathering place for their culture and to learn scripture. It is more than a Church for them it is the center where they can be comfortable and commune with their peers. It is their home.

St. Elizabeth is part of the Yorkville community fabric and our lives. Monsignor McCahill presided over our wedding as well as the baptism of our son. We also celebrated our son's communion and first reconciliation with family and friends in it he church's community hall. St. Elizabeth helps create a sense of community, bringing a "small, tight-knit feel" to the city. I implore the Archdiocese to reconsider this decision.

I am just heartbroken. This should never happen. I attended St Elizabeth's for the first 62 yars of my life. I was baptised, made communion, confirmation and was married there as well as my parents being married there. It is so upsetting to me and my family.

My younger brother is deaf and mute. I heard this church when it was featured in CBS news and I support in saving this church that caters especially for deaf people. Please keep this church open.

Dear Cardinal Dolan, Please allow St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church to stay open and continue to have regular weekly Masses and Sacraments. The church is beautiful and an important part of the neighborhood. Very many elderly parishioners worship there and it would be difficult for them to attend Mass at any other church. As you know St. Elizabeth's is the home to the deaf community of the New York Archdiocese and provides needed services - social and support programs - to this community. I ask that you please take this into consideration and reverse your decision and allow St. Elizabeth's to remain open. Thank you.

It is important for the deaf to continue to hold their special Mass and activities here in the place where they feel safe & comfortable, where they can gather & share ideas & conversations in a friendly environment and can get to easily. Closing a special needs parish is discrimination.

Cardinal Dolan, this is a very important to the all the failthul in the neighborhood. Including, the deaf community. My Mom made the trip from Brooklyn to attend the deaf mass. My sisters and I have contributed to St. Elizabeth, incuding a plaque in memory of our Mom. How can the Archdiocese let this important and much needed church go by the way of the bulldozer?
