Squires Garden Centre West Horsley plans to remove their Soft Play area, instead offering a drop-in story-time session on Mondays 9.30-10.00.

Squires, please don’t close the Soft Play at West Horsley! Please invest and improve it (and even charge for it) but please don’t close it.

Your garden centre currently offers our community a unique environment for our children to play - a fun, dry, safe play area where parents, grandparents and carers can meet at any time of day, any day of the week. Added to this fantastic facility, we are so grateful to have hot coffee and cake on tap. This is what keeps us coming through your doors. And once we’re there, we get tempted into last minute gift buying and indulgent plant/gardening purchases.

While we are grateful for your suggested alternative of a Story Time, it’s unlikely to draw a similar level of custom, with other play groups and the local library offering this too.

Our children may be (at best) a little lively but if you remove the Soft Play facility, one may find those self-same, lively children in your café….worse still, these once valued customers may find themselves going elsewhere.

We, the undersigned, urge the Management of Squires Garden Centre, West Horsley to reconsider their decision to close the Soft Play area. We would be only too happy to work with you to find a way to make it not only a viable, income generating entity for your business, but also an asset to our community.
