Maybe the offended party, and that State of Washington should research the word "Squaw". According to the Smithsonian Institute the word was borrowed as early as 1621 from the Algonquian Tribe. In those languages it meant simply "young woman". In 1992 Oprah invited a Native American activist onto her show. Suzan Harjo stated the word meant vagina. This purported etymology has been widely adopted as the rationale for removing the word from maps, signs, history books, and other public uses. I would think the curator and linguist in the anthropology department at the Smithsonian Institute has more knowledge and credit than some of the supposedly offended. Do your research before removing history.
