I am the Head of Medicine at Queen's University. I represent ~110 academic physicians, the majority of whom are incorporated. As members of an alternate funding plan our incomes are already highly managed by government and removing a negotiated, government-sanctioned benefit is a wrong minded pay cut. The manner in which is is being done creates class tensions that are counterprodcutive. In fact most doctors work long hours and most, despite medical corporations, most of us are paying ~50% of our incomes to the CRA as income tax. Eliminating this benefit is a ploy that plays to a false sense of equity. I personally pay ~$250 in income tax and another $20K+ in GST. This is half my income and I believe that is already "my fair share"

Like others, I will also write directly to my MP to express concern, and would encourage others to take this additional step in having not only our collective but also our individual voices heard.

I'M 100% IN SUPPORT of this petition. These new proposal are targeting the people that drive this economy and provide employment. Personally, I've committed to a mortgage for 25 yrs based on being able to income split and know what I can afford. Now with this new proposal it will be difficult to meet my current financial obligations if this proposal gets approved. I'm tempted to move to the states where the government is more appreciative of the hard workers that drive the economy.

This legislation is petty and serves no purpose other than to undermine small businesses and professionals. It will deter small business growth and and will only encourage many professionals to relocate south of the border.

I feel that the proposed changes to small corporations is detrimental to honest hardworking small businesses. I oppose the planned changes

Changing the current Small Business Tax scheme will result in unfairness for the majority of small business owners, jeopardize the survival of the business and likely will have negative effects in the economy as a whole.

For the record, I personally emailed our MP and received an acknowledgement. I strongly suspect that he has, indeed, heard from many local small business owners and professionals.

These corporations for many small businesses are not tax havens, but rather important means of developing & growing businesses; both of which help to increase employment opportunities for Canadians.

As a small business owner I resent the changes. They are unfair. If the tax system was altered to allow couples to combine income THAT would be fair. Also increasing RRSP limits would be fair to allow personal pensions more in line with public sector values.

75 days, many during the summer, qualifies as "ramming through". Unintended and needless negative consequences are virtually guaranteed by this approach.
