I have visited this lovely church several times for various events. I was always made welcome and 'at home' even though I have no Norwegian background. For me, it was a bit of authentic Norwegian culture. It will be sorely missed.

I grew up in Sydney, to Norwegian and Swedish parents and visited the "church" reguarly. Not only is it a place for the noggies to meet and eat porridge and seimenn, it is a place of learning. Here we had "Norwegian school" once a week, where kids in all ages learnt to read and write in norwegian. I would have never been able to move from Sydney to Oslo as a 17 year old and start videregående skole, without the help of the Norwegian seamans church in Balgowlah. Luckily, the skills i learnt in Sydney meant i could start at a propper norwegian school and not have to go over to the IB system.
my husband and I celebrated our wedding at the church. And now we take our two boys often. Please don't let them miss out on their Norwegian culture and heritage. I beg you to please not sell the church.

i wouldn't want my Norwegian friends in Sydney loose their little bit of Norway - identity is so important when living abroad!
