Sarasota County recently opened up a new parking area which increases parking on Siesta Key Public beach from around 830 to 1280 parking spaces. In the summer, the County plans to close the old parking area to add landscaping and to reconfigure the parking lot. This new change will reduce the old parking area by 300 parking spaces. At the end of the complete renovation the Siesta Key Public Beach will net 150 new parking spaces but we believe it is better to have 450 extra parking spaces every day(even if part of it is an old parking lot). If you agree the County should leave the number of parking spaces at around 1280 spots sign this petition. Let the County know to keep the old parking are as is. An added bonus, the County can save around $5 million by not renovating the old parking area.
