The children need their school

This is heartbreaking! Please save our school!!

I am so saddened to hear of the closing of sfa. I have two children who have attended. One was leaving to archbishop williams which certainly wouldn’t help sfa. One would have been returning for 5th grade. Both have been there since pre-K. So, I feel the pain from a parents perspective. At the same time, this issue is common throughout the country. Not just with catholic schools but with the Catholic Church. Our pews are grey haired. Children do not attend. Is it the priests’ fault? No. They have too much to do as they get older managing multiple parishes. Many in my opinion should have been consolidated years ago to make one strong parish that attends to the youth. Rather, we keep several on life support in a “collaborative”. So it’s not all their doing. Is it the school administration? Well, they have to look at the numbers like we all do in our own lives. They can’t stop the downward trend at the parish level alone and concomitant school level. They had to wonder if enrollment might go up in the spring I hope. I don’t really know. But it’s more than that. Is it us? Well, we pay our taxes and pay more on top of that to send our children to a faith based school. Yet, do we think we can rely on the school to give us morals? It’s been a great experience for my children. But at the fundraiser in March there was ultimately few attendees considering the size of the school. Very few. My point is that we can finger point and blame but maybe we all-priest, administrator and parent-share in the loss of a precious gift we had. I for one will not rely on school to teach Catholicism. That’s ok with me. If you look at the Jewish community, they rely on providing sound religious education and related programming by establishing community activity centers. That is the future I suggest the church needs to pursue. Unfortunately for the Catholic Church I’m not sure we can make that transition. We have many wonderful traditions in Catholicism. We need Catholic schools to stay open to help our young grow up with Christian values ❤️ All my children went there and did well .

I didn't attend this school but I lived in Braintree for 38 yrs and the church was my parish. I did have two friends who went here and I will forward this

I am a student at SFA and I do not want to leave. All the teachers are sooooooo nice and caring!! I hope we can save SFA.

Please don’t close sfa school. It’s a great school and all the kids do so well there.

This school needs to be given a chance and this sudden action is very hurtful and damaging. Please reconsider and give SFA it’s right and a chance to move forward.

I attended SFA 14 years ago from Pre-K all the way to 8th grade and would be heartbroken to see it close down for future generations.
