Petition We demand the following from the Vice Chancellor and/or the Southern Cross University Council given the extraordinary & difficult funding issues that the University faces; 1 - That expensive funding of higher paid lawyers doing the bargaining representation for the University be ceased (this does not prevent seeking legal advice when genuinely needed). 2 - That the Council agree for the Finance Director to meet with the CPSU to go through the finances in detail to demonstrate the actual issues being faced, and current strategies being considered for cost savings. 3 - That the University urgently write to the NSW Government seeking a 3 year exemption to the payroll tax to help rebuild capacity 4 - That ongoing consultation be established for the development and implementation of cost saving measures. 5 - That the University management commit to implementing a range of cost savings measures, with forced job losses used as the last resort, after all other considerations have been done.
