Save Sand Lake Neighborhoods from the Proposed Expansion of Mining

Don’t do it

I oppose the expansion of the mine on Thais Rd. Truck traffic is already absurd on this small country road. I've seen too many pedestrians and cars nearly hit by these large passing trucks. The noise is ridiculous as I literally can't hear anything when they pass by my house with their air breaks. It's intrusive and distributive. I worry of our property values, taxes, well water and basic quality of life. Please do not allow this to pass.

The existing mines are already too much! No more!!!

The amount of dirt and debris flying threw the air of the nice Hamlet of averill park is horrible please clean up our air and make it so I can open up my windows

As a taxpayer and homeowner, I have concerns that this initiative will degrade our town.

Find the right balance!

This should be voted down immediately. It should not even be considered.

Keep in mind the not so distant past collapse at the Akzo salt mine, south of here.

As you go forward, I would like to know what they propose to mine for and could the mining process be harmful to the wells and well water that supplies many homes is Averill Park? Thank you! Adrienne

We just had our well water tested because we suspected there were heavy metals present. We discovered a high level of arsenic in our well water and we are now investing in a more expensive filtration system. We do not need MORE mining to continue to poison our water supply for ourselves and our children.

The truck traffic, noise and pollution from the existing mines are already having a negative impact on our town and quality of life. No more mines should be allowed.

We need to preserve property values and quality of life, and mines contribute NOTHING positive toward either. Rather, they lower the resell value of our property, put fine particulates into the air through mining operations, and contribute massively to climate change through the CO2 emitted by truck traffic. The trucks also make for dangerous conditions on area roads for motorists, pedestrians, children, and recreationists like bicyclists, walkers, and runners. We should be ending mining in our town, not extending it.

Please… no mining expansion. We need buffer zones and GREEN spaces!

The zoning laws have been carefully reassessed in recent years and should be upheld. The town should remain focused on supporting local businesses, in particular the many small businesses in this town, and not show favoritism for one exceptionally large business.

Rensselaer County already has TOO MUCH mining/gravel pits and in the West Sand Lake/Averill Park/Sand Lake area we are already bombarded with clouds of dust from Troy Sand and Gravel. We don't need more mining pits!

I'm all for mixed use zoning, but nestling mines up against long-existing residences is ridiculous.

All this land and you have to use ours and pollute it. I don't think so, move long you greedy children, you already make enough.
