The newly formed Anglo South School District in Southern NB has decided to basically wash its hands of the Saint John School Hockey program that has been running for nearly 40 years, giving elementary and middle school aged children an opportunity to play the game in a structured, safe, fair, fun, and inclusive environment. They cite it as a high-risk sport without understanding the game that is played at this level by our children. There are FAR MORE injuries every year at district approved sporting events such as basketball, soccer, skiing/snowboarding trips and cheerleading. The school hockey program is run via volunteer based administration and individual team fundraising, leaving virtually no cost to the district to absorb. There is no reasonable explanation for the demise of this program. Please sign our petition and add your voice to the list of people that feel this is an unreasonable act for the district to take.  PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE NOTE AT THE FOLLOWING URL AS WELL - http://www.facebook.com/#!/notes/doug-olsen/help-me-save-school-hockey/10151051863439117 - Send your letters supporting the hockey program to the email addresses provided in the note!
