I know these companies have their policies but,why o why couldn't someone just look away.in my eyes they are the GRINCH.

Another small town bureaucrat on a power trip trying to get ahead at the the expense of someone actually willing to work hard. Managers like that are part of the systemic poverty in Eastern Kentucky.

Such a shame! Robert needs the job to provide for his family! IGA is becoming more and more stupid as time goes on!

this is just awful. something should be done about this iga and they need to check the one in Salyersville, ky too! horrible ppl running it!

Why so dumb for?

What the hell.

I shop at IGA almost everyday and I drive right by Roberts house and if he has to work that day and I see him walking I'll pick him up or if he's heading home from work and I'm going that way I'll pick him up. He's one of the best workers down there, this was uncalled for and IGA should be ashamed of themselves and hire him back and apologize to him.

the man didn't need to be fired for this the man who did this si not a Christian he needs to think of what he has done people needs to help others not take away lets all help him gets his job back he need it for him and his family

The manager should have acted with compassion for this man and not out of selfishness

I will not shop at McDowell IGA again until they give this man an apologie. At least he is trying to work an honest job to support his family & then they reward his hard work with firing him right before Christmas over nonsense. God bless Him & his family.

Another thing I would like to point out is that more and more people across the country (including this area) are beginning to dumpster dive and there's nothing wrong with it and if it helps your family out, then fine, do it. To some , its the sole means of making a living. I have friends online that are homeless and use libraries for internet connection and diving is their only way of making it from day to day. So with Robert taking 2 packages of outdated cookies that would have been thrown out for which ever car is in the lane to grab them cost him his job, is just stupid! I have seen numerous vehicles there & people going through the dumpster. Why not help out a struggling employee since its going to be a tax write off anyway? What Robert did,was NOT wrong. IGA is in the wrong. They fired a hard worker, who would show up by WALKING or even having to ride a bike. I have picked him up and helped him out by taking him to work or dropping him off at places he needed. This family doesn't need to be treated so unfairly. Jobs are scarce in this area and especially in an area where one has to walk in order to get to their place of employment. I would bet they don't have another worker that is that dedicated!!!

I would rather see him employed by anyone else, other than IGA. They don't deserve hard working, dedicated employees, such as this man!

Hoping this man keeps his job, considering he walks to work every day I'm sure that traveling even farther to Martin or elsewhere for work would certainly put a strain on him.

Don't think get should be fired for something that was being throw away. There is people starving in the world and stores waist food.
