Excellent program extremely well produced. What makes it stand out is its intellectual content. This may explain its ratings on the channel for morons.

One of the best drama series in recent years.It is foolish to axe it just because its viewing figures can't compete with a reality show.The BBC should be fighting rather than giving in to dumbing down.

how can a superb, gripping drama series be ended when we have to put up with constant, half-witted reality shows? Let's have more Ripper Street. It's a disgrace the BBC are planning to take it away.

A gripping edgy period drama with expertly written characters, relationships and perfect casting. I love the show and agree its an unfinished production far from its conclusion. A fabulous drama without rose tinted spectacles, strong women and a disparate yet deeply connected trio at its core. Fantastic twists and turns and overt yet believable (due to quality of acting and actors connection to character portrayed) character flipping, ultimately revealing the Jekyll and Hyde in all characters.

Great period drama as only BBC can do great writing compared to be another highly popular period drama. Shouldn't be axed there are many of us out there with a brain who don't watch reality tv. If not on wouldn't watch celebrity will just turn tv off.

I am appalled at the hideous decision to axe this excellent drama~the authenticity of the sets~the superb acting and the gritty storylines has had me gripped from the first episode~l have the first series on dvd~this year it was scheduled two mths earlier than last year and sadly people can be quite shallow in deciding to watch a selection of b rated celebs chasing spiders around a plate than watching quality tv~they want to watch like live !! When the bbc finally get into the real world and give ur a plus one, alot more dramas will suffer~and hats off to Jerome Flynn as the tormented yet sensative tortured Bennet Drake~superb

Such great British actors, script, photography production etc etc. would be ridiculous not to continue with this drama which stands alone in quality amongst such dirge on TV.
