No, we cannot simply "just skate outside, instead". Redwood Roller Rink provided a community space for diverse skaters, particularly People of Color but also people with special needs and even fancy figure skaters who most certainly cannot "just go skate outside".

I traveled to this rink for Fromthe East Bay for 3 years on Weds and Saturday night. I miss my skate nights!

Children, teens, and families need recreational facilities like skating. Some of my fondest childhood memories are from spending Saturday or Sunday afternoons at my local roller rink.

Are used to skate there in the 1960s. I’ve lived here all my life and I was a pro at rollerskating. Enjoyed the Saturday night Are used to skate there in the 1960s. I’ve lived here all my life and I was a pro at rollerskating. Enjoyed the Saturday nightdances under the diamond crystal ball.
