One of the best spring breaks I've ever had was also one of my first times read climbing. Red rocks has so much to offer in such an urban area. If these houses get built then we cant get that sense of being in the "mountains" in a place so close to Las Vegas

You will lose incredible amounts of tourism to this natural beauty. The climbing, scenery, hiking, running, and sight-seeing are only made more incredible by the untouched landscape. Don't wreck the natural beauty that attracts thousands of outdoor enthusiasts to your city every year. Don't let Las Vegas only be known for its strip and casinos, build the outdoor recreation around it.

I visit the Las Vegas area not for the casinos, or the clubs or shows - rather for the access to wild lands within a short drive of the airport. As a climber I'm drawn to world-class cliffs in pristine canyons - offering a true wilderness experience so close to civilization. It's not just the classic vertical terrain - it's the wide-open high desert views, the smell of sagebrush and juniper, and the feel of cold sandstone underfoot. In these modern times we are tasked as humans to make hard decisions - and while the hard decision to bypass development now will to our children and their children look like an easy one: to preserve this beautiful landscape for all to enjoy. As an escape from Las Vegas blvd for like-minded people to discover and explore the greatest natural resource, from a scenic loop drive to big wall climbs and deep canyon hikes. Please, for the sake of our future generations, take this imperative step towards preservation.

Love Red Rocks. Visited it for two separate spring breaks to climb. Developing would hurt tourism as well as the natural majesty of the area.
