If there is one thing I love most about Vegas as a Canadian it's going to red rock only to see how wrong I was about this place. It's breathtaking, that being said I really don't understand how the state of Nevada thinks it's going to keep this magesty with the development their planning. Please don't shoot yourself in the foot Nevada and wreck the one naturally beautiful thing about Vegas.

Red Rock is one of my favorite climbing and mountain biking destinations. It would be tragically changed with the addition of 5000 homes. What I have always admired is that there is a break between the city and the mountains.

My family goes to red rock once a week to hike, rock climb and enjoy our peace away from the city. Please do not build more houses into this beautiful area that is a solace for us Vegas people. There are a ton of houses for sale and more in foreclosure. If people need a house they can buy it there.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is unique. You know that, of course! The name says it all – a conservation area of national significance. It has a status that we must all respect and that we should treasure. Over the past 20 years, Las Vegas development has crept ever nearer, and now it is time to call a halt. To preserve Red Rock Canyon's uniqueness requires the protection that only a buffer zone free from further development can provide. I see absolutely no justification to encroach even an inch closer. Don't tell me that we have the conservation area and that's all it needs. Please take a look and see the wild beauty that Red Rock Canyon represents. Think about the responsibility you have to conserve and protect this special place – now, and for future generations. Take a look beyond the immediate dollar signs and consider that some things have a value extending far beyond the purely financial. Thank you.

Please keep red rock beautiful and free from housing developments- go to calico basin- they've already ruined that area with houses!

This is one of the most spectacular places in the country, and the only reason some of us go to Las Vegas!

I believe this area hold much more value without housing developments in place. A great loss would occur if this area would be turned into a residential area.

The only reason I travel to Las Vegas and spend money there is to climb at Red Rock Canyon. Developing the canyon area would mean I would never come back.

Please protect this wonderful area for future generations. There's plenty of land on which to develop communities but very few jewels like Red Rock where local and global outdoor enthusiasts can get away from it all (and only 20 minutes away from the city!). Any short-term gains to the county will be outweighed by the significant long-term loss of visitors to Red Rock who would have otherwise come to enjoy a unique wilderness experience.
