I understand this is a mining company seeking development rights next to Red Rock Canyon. I live on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota. Foreign (Chilean and Canadian) sulfide mining companies (arguably one of the most destructive forms of mining globally, with a track record of 100% acid drainage in non-arid ecosystems) are currently seeking approval to mine copper within the watershed of the BWCAW, the second largest eastern US Wilderness and the most visited Wilderness in the country. My point: Even though mining is not at issue, mining companies hold nothing sacred beyond profit... regardless of what you are told, or how much our units of government buy into their rhetoric, anything of natural beauty they touch will in some way be lessened because of it.
As a frequent visitor to Red Rock, I thank you for your work in preserving the character of this irreplaceable national treasure.

I very strongly urge and request that the rezoning efforts to reclassify the area to allow any type of residential, commercial, business or even farming be stopped or denied. The natural and fragile resources must be protected.. Every natural wildlife area is important, much more important than developers just trying to fatten their pockets with the almighty dollar. The development would be better suited elsewhere. No reason why developers can't go into existing neighborhoods and regentrify them. I unequivocally support this petition and proudly add my name to it. Please do the right thing for future generations and deny the rezoning application. Thank you for your consideration.

There a thousands of developments in Las Vegas and no other place like Red Rock Canyon. There are hundreds of bicyclists and runners on the road through the canyon every day. Please don't destroy the last best natural space in Las Vegas.

Went hiking in Red Rock Canyon during a recent vacation. Our guide told us about the plan to build housing and shopping developments within sight of this amazing area. This would be a blight on the landscape and ruin the views and the whole reason people love to visit Red Rock- to get away from urban development. Please do not let this happen to such an amazing part of our country!

My wife and I are outdoor tourists and we specifically traveled to the area to hike Red Rock. We stayed in local hotels, ate at restaurants, hired local guides, etc and spent $100's while we were there. We'd love to return and explore more, but if the scenic beauty is ruined by development we won't be coming back and will vacation elsewhere. I hope the County Commissioners and Zoning officials realize that tourism is a big business and when they destroy an attraction, the tourists take their money elsewhere. Allow a subdivision and you'll have endless expenditures on infrastructure from roads to schools to emergency services. Leave it wild and the tourists will keep coming and spending.

Leave RedRock alone! There is no need to move the suburbs closer to the natural, open, public spaces that we call Red Rock. Do not let the zoning allow development in this precious public resource.

Going to Red Rock for hiking or walking is a joy, even during the busy season. The road out to the park is easy to navigate with very little traffic. I want to keep it that way.
If we start adding residential zones to the area close to Red Rock national park, we're going to need to do infrastructure upgrades to deal with the extra traffic. That means construction delays and hassle for everyone, including locals and tourists. As soon as one location gets zoned, you know many others will follow.
I hope we can keep Red Rock Canyon from turning into a residential zone and I hope that others make their similar wishes known. Please consider my plea!
