I think the sale of Red House is outrageous. Red House has significant historical connections and also Charlotte Bronte history. was born in Gomersal and Red House is very important to me and I am Sure many other Gomersal born people. It must not be sold!

Selling off our local history is unforgivable. Once its gone it's gone.
We already pay one of the highest rates of council tax in the country and the council still can't manage to make ends meet. The proceeds from the sale of Red House would soon be squandered and then they would have nothing. A far better idea would be to bring in people who can do a better job of managing the council funds.

I understand the economic problems being faced by Kirklees council, but it would be a great shame to see this important historical link to our region and the Bronte family lost. We would be losing a part of our heritage, to bolster up a national government introduced financial system which is punitive and unworkable. Please think again.

Even putting aside the 'Shirley' connection, I am appalled that closure should even be considered - a complete 17th century house furnished as it was nearly 200 years ago. Absolutely disgraceful.
