I was outraged when I heard Ray's was being evicted, and still am. Best lettles and rice IN THE WHOLE WORLD. No crumbly, old subway can ever compare.

Why would mall management want to replace these with the same old crap you can buy everywhere else.

Sobey's messaging of 'buy local' and 'eat healthy' ring very hollowly. Taking a healthy (and totally tasty!) choice away from clientele to replace it with bagged lettuce and processed meat... brilliant business acumen.

I so sad and mad about these two local small restaurants being kicked out for corporate greed, just like PG's. Crombie REIT is going to regret this decision.

It is no wonder that our province is economically depressed when big corporate interests trump small business. A Taste of India is the only Indian Restaurant in any of our malls. They flourished at Scotia Square because they offered tasty fare at very affordable prices. Wherever they relocate to they will flourish and it will be Scotia Squares loss.

I spoke with Ray this morning - he is at a loss. He said that he had agreed to a rent increase and had been asking permission to upgrade the unit.

Ray's & Taste of India are two of the remaining vendors that I frequently eat at in Scotia Square. It is a disgrace that Crombie (AKA Sobey's) is unwilling to continue to support local business. I plan to boycott Scotia Square and anything affiliated with Sobeys if these two vendors are thrown out.

Rays is a Halifax institution. 2 months notice to relocate a business that's been in place for decades? Are you kidding?

If Ray's left Scotia Square I would have no reason to go there anymore.

Hopefully we can keep these stores in Scotia Square and not become a slave to the corporate entities.
